It has been a constant endeavor of the Delhi Metro to meet the demand and supply in terms of passengers and carrying capacity of the trains. From 2010 to 2014, DMRC has increased the number of coaches from 640 to 1076, an increase of almost 70% across the network. This has been in tandem with the present passenger load of about 25 lakh per day. In these years, all four coach trains on Line-2, 3 and 4 – the busiest lines of the Delhi Metro have been converted into 6 and 8 coaches and Line-1 have also got number of 6 coach trains to accommodate increased passengers.
DMRC on the basis of feedback and suggestions from its passengers, along with surveys and traffic analysis, strives to augment its fleet to meet the traffic demand on various lines and accordingly devises the train operations plan to provide smooth and comfortable Metro experience besides riding high on its reliability and safety quotient.
