RAILWAY MINISTER FLAGS OFF NEW DELHI-CHANDIGARH SHATABDI EXPRESS FROM ITS NEW ENROUTE STOPPAGE AT KARNAL STATION TODAY

Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways flagged off the 12045 New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express in the distinguished presence of Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana from its new stopping station Karnal at a ceremony held there today. Shri Bakshi Singh Hon’ble Parliamentary Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Haryana, Shri Harvinder Kalyan, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Gharonda, Shri Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Nilokheri, Smt. Renu Bala Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Karnal were the esteemed guests o­n the occasion. Senior Railway officers present o­n the occasion were Shri A.K.Puthia, General Manager, Northern Railway, Shri Arun Arora, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Delhi. The Railway Minister also laid the foundation stone for development of passenger amenities and face-lift of Karnal station. Alongside, for the facility of railway employees, the Railway Minister also inaugurated a Barat Ghar(banquet hall) there.

            The new stoppage is being introduced o­n an experimental basis for a period of six months from today. The 12045 New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express shall reach Karnal at 08.51 p.m. and depart from there at 08.53 p.m. to reach the next stopping station at Ambala Cantt. o­n its o­nward journey at 09.55 p.m. There is no change in timings o­n the Ambala Cantt-Chandigarh section.

            In the return direction, the 12046 Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express shall depart from Ambala Cantt. at its existing timings at 12.42 p.m. to reach Karnal at 01.33 p.m. and depart from there at 01.35 p.m. There is no change in arrival timings of the train at its destination station i.e.  New Delhi.
