Taking into account the inconvenience and hardships being faced by the people staying in and around Achirne in District of Sindhudurg, Hon'ble Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu has laid the Foundation Stone for a new station at Achirne, in order to make their dream come true for their comfortable journey on Konkan Railway Route.

This proposed New Achirne station is situated between Vaibhavwadi and Nandgaon stations of Konkan Railway at KM 292/250 – 293/450 situated in Sindhudurg District. The new station reduces the distance between stations from present 15.60 kms to 9.02 km from Vaibhavwadi  and 6.58 kms from Nandgaon. This Station will be constructed at a total cost of ` 12.55 Cr. Once this station is commissioned the same will serve Achirne, Tembwadi, Gadmath, Kambale and Kurduwadi villages.  At present the commuters at Achirne are dependent either on Vaibhavwadi or Nandgaon Railway stations for their journey to Mumbai, Goa etc, for which they have to travel a lot by road both by taxi / bus as there is no direct connectivity. The proposed Achirne Station will be provided with various passenger amenities such as platforms, waiting hall, current ticket booking counter, covered platform shelter etc.

With the construction of this station, it will help in the development of adjacent areas and will improve communication as well as connectivity amongst the adjoining villages, which will prove to be a great boon to the people residing in and around Achirne. Konkan Railway always believes in providing better passenger amenities to its esteemed passengers for their comfortable, safe and happy journey.

This will also improve operations and throughput on Konkan Railway as the Block Section comprising of 15.60 Kms between Vaibhavwadi & Nandgaon will be split into two parts.
