Swift Action to Restore Tracks - Shri Ravindra Gupta, GM/SCR

Shri Ravindra Gupta, General Manager informed that South Central Railway has initiated swift action for restoration of breached railway tracks on Guntur-Nadikude Section of Guntur Division. Addressing the media at Rail Nilayam today i.e. 22nd September, 2016 the General Manager stated that heavy rains taking place on the Zone have caused breaches at seven locations on Guntur-Nadikude section of Guntur Division. He informed that round the clock Emergency Control Room has been setup at Rail Nilayam to monitor the situation from time to time and speed up the restoration of breached tracks. In order to ensure safe journey, top priority is accorded to safe running of trains resulting in cancellation/partial cancellation/diversion of several trains, he added.

The General Manager informed that SCR has taken special care to transport the stranded passengers of Train No. 12703 Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express and Train No. 12747 Guntur – Vikarabad Palnadu Express. He informed that necessary food and water has been provided to the passengers. He explained that South Central Railway in coordination with State Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, National Disaster Response Force and APSRTC have made necessary arrangements and transported the passengers from Palnadu Express and Falaknuma Express trains to their destinations. All the persons were escorted by Railway Protection Force to provide necessary security.

Shri Ravindra Gupta informed that high level engineering team comprising Principal Chief Engineer is reaching the spot to personally assess the damage done and prepare action plan to restore the railway track on war foot. He further informed that breaches at seven location between Sattenapalli-Reddigudem stations, Reddigudem-Bellamkonda stations, Bellamkonda-Piduguralla stations and Piduguralla-Tummalacheruvu stations will be restored within the minimum possible time frame.

The General Manager complimented the SCR staff who took timely action and ensured safe passage of the trains in rain affected section. He informed that PWI of the section boarded the Falaknuma Express to assess the track situation and ensure safe movement of the train. His alertness has been critical in evaluation of the track position, along with him several track patrolling staff, bridge patrolling staff were alert all the time to ensure safe operation of trains. The alertness and dedication of all the staff led to prevention of untoward incident in the flood affected portion of the Zone he added.

Earlier, Shri Ravindra Gupta held a review meeting to assess the damage done by floods due to heavy rains and plans for speedy restoration of breached railway track. Shri A.K. Gupta, Addl, General Manager and other Principal Heads of the Departments participated in the meeting
