Railway stops train movement over Dooars section to save elephant

Northeast Frontier Railway has stopped movement of all trains in the Alipurduar Jn. – Siliguri section after receiving information about movement of elephant herds in the areas near Rajabhatkhowa station.  Senior N.F.Railway officials are at site and monitoring the situation. Train movement over that section has been suspended from 08-55 am and the following trains have been controlled:

1.15483 Sikkim – Mahananda Express is controlled at Alipurduar Jn. station

2.15765 Siliguri – Dhubri Express is controlled at Rajabhatkhowa station

3.13247 Guwahati – Danapur Express is controlled at Alipurduar Jn. station

4.75715 passenger is controlled at Kalchini station.

5.Goods trains are also controlled at various stations.

55467Up(SGUJ-APDJ-BXT Passenger short terminated at APDJ .

55466Dn(BXT-APDJ Passenger) cancelled.

taking all caution to ensure no harm to elephants and safety of trains. Trains presently restored at 30kmph speed.
