Arrangements made by S.Railway for stranded passengers on 04.12.15

GM discussed the current situation with the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu yesterday evening.  The Chief Secretary was satisfied with the assistance of 36000 water bottles supplied by IRCTC.  He further indicated that nothing more is required at this moment, in case any assistance is needed, they will get back to Southern Railway.

ØEMU trains are operated every 45 min  between Chennai Beach and Arakkonam section from today (04.12.15) to give connectivity for the passengers who are  coming by air to Arakkonam Naval base.

ØSenior Officers have also been deputed at Arakkonam for coordination and making necessary arrangements for the passengers who are using the Arakkonam Naval base.

Ø21 passenger specials were run from/to Chennai Beach/Tiruvallur/Arakkonam/Villupuram/Tiruchchirappalli/Tirunelveli/ Kanniyakumari/Rameswaram/Mangalore/Bangalore/Hyderabad/Hazrat Nizamuddin/Howrah  in the past two days to clear the stranded passengers.  Connectivity through EMU to the originating stations  were made to the stranded passengers.  Wide publicity has been given in this regard.

ØOfficers are deputed to Chennai Beach and other originating stations to monitor the running of specials to various destinations including booking and refund of tickets by opening additional counters.

ØSkeleton Suburban services run between Tiruvottiyur and  Sullurpeta o­n 04.12.15.

ØAll the stations where trains are originating catering, water and beverages are ensured to the passengers.  About 7000 food packets at free of cost have been arranged at Chennai Beach and other stations, in addition to 30000 packets distributed yesterday (03.12.15). Dinner is also being arranged at Chennai Egmore today (04.12.15).

ØRPF personnel are engaged to assist the passengers and regulating them  in boarding the specials at various stations.

ØToilet facilities, Sanitation and cleanliness are ensured at all stations for the stranded passengers.

ØTrack Works:

·Bridge No.53 o­n Pallavaram – Kodambakkam section o­n Chennai Egmore Tambaram route:     The PSC girder of Up suburban line shifted laterally by 60 cm due to heavy flow of water in Adyar river.  Sounding was done to assess the damage around the pier and continuous monitoring of the flow of water and condition of the  bridge is  being done.  A&B line with SR 10 kmph given from 14.00 hrs of 04.12.15 at Bridge No.53 location and 75 kmph for Chennai Egmore – Tambaram section for A&B line.

·Guduvanchery – Vandalur section o­n Chennai Egmore – Chengalpattu route:  Both Up & Dn track suspended at km 38/2-8 & 38/22-28 for washout of ballast and bank for 500m o­n each line at 18.00 hrs o­n 01.12.15.  o­ne poclain and 2 JCBs are presently working at site and 20 cum of boulder have been unloaded at site.  Further movement of ballast wagons and boulder wagons have been arranged.  The manpower have been moved from various divisions of SR.  The work is in full swing at site for restoration of down line track first and thereafter for restoration of up line track. Track was given fit  at 00.00 hrs of 04.12.15 with SR of 10kmph o­n Dn line over km 38/00 – 39/00.  o­n Up line, ballast dumping work is in progress with full swing.

·Chennai Beach – Chennai Egmore section:  Chennai Beach – Chennai Egmore suburban line was suspended at 19.50 hrs of 01.12.15 due to overflowing of water above rail level.  Chennai Beach – Chennai Egmore main line was suspended from 00.30 hrs of 02.12.15 due to overflowing of water above rail level.

·Chennai Central – Basin Bridge section:   Both Up and down fast lines suspended from 02.45 hrs of 02.12.15 due to overflowing of water above rail level. o­n  Up and Dn fast lines water is overflowing 35cm above rail level.

Ø6 sets of specials are being planned today to operate from Chennai Egmore to various destinations of South Tamil Nadu
